Introduction to sign-writing

Immerse yourself on this one-day signwriting course, where you will learn about the creation of letters, good typographical layout and the basics of traditional hand painted signwriting. Learn the foundational skills for good signwriting, the correct techniques and the rules of lettering. Discover how to break the rules of type in the right way to make all your hand lettered pieces stand out. With your new-found knowledge, create your own hand painted sign to take home, along with the kit and knowledge to keep learning. An introduction to coloured pencils

With Karen Coulson

Explore the techniques required to create this festive robin using Derwent Coloursoft Pencils. These can be drawn on a card or board to use as a special seasonal card or mounted as a gift. A line drawing is supplied to trace or copy so no need to worry about drawing “free hand”. Introduction to silver clay

Come and explore the magical world of Silver Clay. On this introduction to silver clay class, you will learn how to handle, roll, texture, cut, fire and finish your own designs. By the end of the class, you will have two or three pieces of (hallmark quality 999) silver jewellery ready to wear home along with plenty of new skills. Small class sizes of 6 in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. This course is perfect for beginners or those wishing to refresh their skills.

Gnome Needle felting Workshop

come and learn a fun and therapeutic craft and use beautiful british wool to make your very own needle felted character!

The workshop will cover: *preparation of the wool and traditional needle felting techniques *materials, tools and safe use of felting needles. *wool/fibre rolling techniques, basic shapes, plus hints and tips. *’stabbing’ techniques and learning how to sculpt your wool into a 3-d creation.

Make a stone set ring

Suitable for complete beginners. In this one day class you will learn skills to make a traditional rub-over stone set ring from scratch. Choose from a selection of beautiful semi precious stones, band styles and textures. Introduction to traditional jewellery making

Join Rebecca on this short 4 week taster course and learn some traditional jewellery making skills. Suitable for complete beginners. In this course you will be guided through various skills such as soldering, piercing, Forming, stone setting and ring making. You’ll Leave at the the end of the course with a beautiful copper cherry blossom key ring, stone set stacking rings and a desire to keep creating! Silver Bangle and Charms

We will be working with Sterling Silver wire to form the bangles which can be textured and stamped. There will be an opportunity to make silver charms from fine Silver to add to your bangles to make each one unique. Traditional trinket box

Join Rebecca on this one day experience class where you will learn all the skills needed to create a traditional hand fabricated Copper trinket box. These tiny little boxes are the perfect place to keep your loose pills or they also make beautiful tooth fairy boxes. Birch bark container workshop

With Jack Fazey (Fazey Woodcraft)

Join Fazey Woodcraft for a chance to have a go at making your own tree bark storage containers. Bark containers are one of, if not the oldest way to contain foodstuffs, liquids & other goods. In this workshop we will be using methods and materials that span back thousands of years into pre-history to create a beautiful, strong & sustainable container from Birch Bark. A history of the use of bark, roots & wood, plus examples of harvesting, storing and working with these materials will lead us up to the main task of the day, creating your very own natural tupperware.

Festive card printing

with Chantelle (Printsthings)

Join printmaker Chantelle Shekyls and learn to create festive cards to impress your family and friends this December. Chantelle will take you through the creative process, from composing your design, to cutting and printing your block. The lino printmaking technique gives striking results, and the workshop will introduce you to the skills you need to create a simple but effective block. You will print onto blank cards on the day but you can keep your block/s and go on to do repeat pattern wrapping paper or tags at home! The workshop is suitable for complete beginners or for those who have tried lino printing before. No drawing skills required. All materials will be provided on the day!

Silver stacking rings

with resident artist Claire (North Sky jewellery)

In this one-day class we will be using both fine silver clay and sterling silver wire to create a set of 3 beautiful handmade stacking rings. On the day you will learn how to texture and shape silver clay to make the creations for your rings, how to set a gemstone into clay, how to refine and fire your silver clay creations (this is when the magic happens and your clay turns into beautiful shiny fine silver), how to form 3 ring bands using sterling silver wire, how to solder the creations together to form the completed ring design and how to polish so your finished rings sparkle. At the end of the class, you will go home wearing your beautiful new handmade rings having learnt lots of new skills. This course is available for complete beginners, or those wishing to build on their skills. I will take you through step by step.
